On 17 October there were celebrations for the return of Chopin’s heart to Warsaw. The Germans destroyed his statue, but did not find the heart which was hidden by Archbishop Szlagowski during the occupation. In his name (due to the Archbishop’s illness) priest Petrzyk gave the casket with the heart to the president of the Country National Council. Through the hands of the president the nation passes the relic onto the host of the capital, engineer Tołwiński. A delegation of students from the Warsaw Conservatory and Music School takes the casket to the Święty Krzyż church. “Where your treasure is, your heart is.” For Fryderyk Chopin from the nation.
